Whether the assignment involved workbook pages or my own created worksheets that I'd send as PDF's as part of their lesson notes or online interactive tools for specific skills, I needed to find a way to document when the assignment was made, what exactly the assignment was, when the assignment was due, when it was emailed to me, was it on time or late (as this could affect their contract, which Maria ALSO fully assisted in creating for me), when I marked the assignment for grading, and when I returned the results to the students. With nearly 40 weekly students, this \"keeping track\" was becoming an overwhelming nightmare! However, Maria suggested a Google Spreadsheet to be shared with her on Google Docs, where she could help upload the pages of each of the theory books I use in my studio, and each student would have their own tab. I could then copy and paste the info that she uploaded into the individual student tabs as the pages were assigned. These students then had columns going across with the pertinent information in the order stated above. Now it is so much easier for me to refer to this document when checking for assigned homework in my emails and making note of students being responsible or not. This has been a HUGE game-changer for me, all thanks to Maria's ingenuity and clever talent. I don't say this lightly! She has a LOT to manage as my VA because I am autistic and it takes a special level of patience to explain things to me and communicate effectively with me, especially when I am SO passionate about my business and everything my ethos stands for. She shares that passion with me, and I am grateful that we think so much alike. Often times, during our frequent Zoom calls, we finish each other's sentences or are saying the same thing at the same time! It's uncanny how we work on a Google Doc together, and she's trying to type the same thing in the same place at the same time as I am. I seriously don't know what I'd do without her help! My online business would have gone bust when COVID hit, but thanks to her cool thinking and plethora of ideas, I was not only able to keep the business afloat, but I was able to expand and thrive.
